This trip is designed to provide a haven of tranquility--a perfect escape and a natural indulgence from your busy, workaday world. A chance to nourish your well-being and  immerse yourself in a spa retreat to soothe your spirit, and at the same time rejuvenate your body.

It includes the  elements necessary for well being: skin care, touch, mind/body (sounds, color, aroma, meditation and yoga, physical activity, water, environment, food and wine). Overall a sensuous journey of intense regeneration and nature walks.

Dawn rises silently over endless terraces of emerald green; verdant palms fade into distant hills. The reverberating sound of priests chanting in the distance can be heard, rhythmically juxtaposed with the calls of frogs and sasapi birds.

Why do people gravitate to Bali to retreat? What sets Bali apart from destinations that simply boast high standards of  excellence? What prompts readers of travel magazines such as Travel and Leisure to annually vote Bali as “Best Island?”

The Balinese spirit is one reason. From tiny offerings to elaborate ceremonies, the spirit of Bali permeates and enlivens ones own, lending to inspiration for deeper healing and transformation in this mystical landscape. The personal journey begins.

The healing powers of jungle,  forest and rice field are further complemented by the healing forces of water.  Sacred to the Balinese, water is used regularly in prayer and purification. We begin our journey on the shores of the Indian ocean in southern Bali, coupling the healing forces of water with profound principles of feng shui. The Tide ebbs and flows,  streams cascade over walls of sandstone, and your sense are immersed in the harmony of nature--the ever attentive staff at your accommodation providing the yin to your yang.

Our journey continues inland, to Ubud, Bali’s cultural center. Waka di Ume Resonated Spa’s inland retreat, is dedicated to the philosophy of quiet comfort in culturally rich locations. Ubud derives its name from Ubad, meaning “medicine” in Balinese. The heart of the hotel is designed for guests seeking greater health through Yoga and health related treatments. The open-air Yoga room for group practices, has the best  rice field view in all the resort, seeking to inspire weary souls. The spa is set in a magnificent environment surrounded by lush paddy fields. Indonesian herbs and spices add to the rich traditional nature of treatments for total relaxation. Ubud is also a gold mine of world-lass cuisine.

Our final destination is the dramatic landscape of East Bali, where craggy volcanic mountains rim the crystal-clear, azure sea. Here we reside for our final nights at the acclaimed Alila Manggis, and enjoy its acclaimed spa treatments, as well as excursions into the countryside, and a cooking class with their noted chefs. The peace and quiet of East Bali is an ideal way to conclude your journey.

In the beginning of your trip, each person can receive a complementary consultation with Dr. Ian Gregory,  and anti-ageing specialist  trained in Australia, and practicing in Bali. If you choose to opt for any of the remarkably discounted services, for your recovery you have the spa infrastructure to rely on for calm relaxing, well-padded recovery.

The Balinese are a gentle, spiritual people. They showed no retaliation in the face of two terrorist attacks. Instead they remained peaceful and humbled. Forgiving by nature, they practiced ritual acts of cleansing and purification. What we can learn from the Balinese is that when faced with adversity one must journey inward. Quiet the mind,  calm the heart, clean the body, and soothe the soul. This is their path, the sacred path to self-discovery, healing g and deep transformation. This is what makes for a truly Balinese retreat experience.
