"Never have I
had audiences so captivated by my travel tales as I wove stories
around our escapades in the winding streets of Venice and
archaic highlands of Sardinia. Many thanks for your companionship
of what has proven to be my most entertaining journey so far,
not just for me, but all those at home too."
—Nikki Richards, Santa Barbara CA.
Carnevale in Venice 2000
"Judy and Surya did a wonderful job with the big picture;
making decisions, getting tickets, keeping the group together,
staying interested and enthused about everything, providing
information, and interacting with everyone."
—Ruth Dorn, San Diego, CA. Carnevale

The first week of our stay takes place in Florence, one of
the most famous destinations for scholars, artists, and Renaissance
enthusiasts now and in previous centuries. Those joining us
will have the opportunity to explore Florence during low season,
visiting some of the lesser known palaces and museums with
a noted local professor, as well as sampling Florence's noted
cuisine at what is one of the few peaceful times in the Florentine
year. The seaside town of Viareggio, an easy train ride from
Florence, stages Italy's most famous Carnevale, with gigantic,
high-tech masked floats, sporting hosts of costumed dancers
satirizing contemporary politics every Sunday for four weeks.
For our second week, we travel to the island of Sardinia,
to take part in what Italian's believe to be the oldest and
most traditional Carnevales, located in small villages in
the agricultural region of Nuoro. Included will be a hysterical
and memorable visit to a village Carnevale with overtones
of the ancient Dionysian revels.
